Back Nine

How you can be involved: Meetings in Atlanta are quarterly; the first Tuesday of the month. We meet in the Cochise Riverview Club clubhouse.  Meetings begin at 6:30 with social time, drinks and a light dinner (usually anything from barbecue to Willy’s to Waffle House). Program begins at 7 with monthly topics followed by table conversations. We finish at 8 pm encouraging men to be intentional about making connections (coffee, lunch, drinks) with other men in between meetings.

Back Nine is not a Bible study or affiliated with a church, however our desire, in addition to connecting men with one another, is to see that God has a purpose for us in the second half of our lives. We have a gift we can give the world; a gift that our age, wisdom and experience affords us.

Strength to Strength (StS) Groups – An outgrowth of BackNine

Study after study shows that men are increasingly isolated the older they get.

BackNine encourages:  Building Intentional Community

BackNine will get you connected to intergenerational community groups.

Groups are formed by partnering older and younger men together for sharing life and growing together.

  • When: There are 2 options- weekly and monthly.

  • Where: Weekly groups meet every Friday at Superica on Roswell Road in Atlanta.

  • Monthly: meet at the homes of group members

  • How: Monthly groups typically meet for an hour and a half 11 times a year. At the end of the year groups can disband or opt to continue meeting.  Groups can decide to have themes to discuss or read a book and discuss it.  We have a large list of books to choose from.  Books are a mix of self help and faith centered books.  All books on the list have been chosen because they lead to great group discussion.

  • Groups are designed to take men more deeply into thoughtful reflection about our lives.  Discussion usually begins with a high-low checkin from the past month and then discussion of book or theme where men are able to share their joys and struggles; exploring how God is at work in their lives.
